Author Marc Boston (The Girl Who Carried Too Much Stuff) and a select number of students from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Virginia will present their original stories and poetry at this fun event for the whole family.
Enjoy paletas from La Flor Michoacana Mexican Ice Cream Shop, snacks from the Food Lion snack truck, hands-on activities, and goodie bags.
This event is part of the Changing the Narrative project at Virginia Humanities, which seeks to use stories to empower young Virginians in under-served communities in Arlington, Charlottesville, Norfolk, Richmond, Roanoke, and Harrisonburg. These programs focus on creating safe opportunities for Virginians to tell their stories and engage with the experiences of others in an inclusive space.
Changing the Narrative is funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation through a two-year grant to implement Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation guidelines.
