What do the humanities mean to you?

Here at VFH, we see the humanities as a force for good in the world. The humanities help people share their stories and learn about the experiences of others. They foster understanding and dialogue. They engage us in diverse cultures and connect us with one another, despite (and sometimes because of) our differences.

The humanities inform, empower, inspire—and bring people together.

What’s at stake for humanities funding?

You’ve probably heard that the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) is facing the possibility of closure. Like other state humanities councils across the nation, VFH depends on NEH funding for core operations, allowing us to offer programs that bring people together, explore our shared humanity, and foster understanding in a world where those things seem to be in shortening supply.

And while NEH funding is a cornerstone of support for the humanities, individuals like you have always been the single most important source of funding for our work—and individuals like you are the reason our work matters.

We need you.

As we near the end of our fiscal year, we ask for your support. If you agree that the humanities are a force for good in the world, bringing people together and bridging divides in our communities, please make a gift to VFH today. Each year, the need for our work is more critical, and the impact of our work is more significant. You are an essential part of that equation.

As VFH programs illustrate year after year, the humanities have the power to transform our world for the better. But only with your support.

Thank you!
