Chief Operating Officer & Sr Director of Program Development
The Virginia Foundation for the Humanities seeks a Senior Director of Program Development and Chief Operating Officer to work directly with the VFH President in long-term planning, financial management, program development, and daily operations. Five Senior Program Directors and the Business Manager report to the Senior Director of Program Development and Chief Operating Officer, who works to ensure the overall success of the organization and has responsibility for budgeting, program administration, personnel, facilities, and systems.
The successful candidate will be a creative, strategic, and effective leader and executive, who inspires confidence and collaboration among a diverse staff of 35 talented and committed individuals.

Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree (Ph.D. in humanities discipline preferred; other terminal degree considered)

Director of Development, Chief Advancement Officer
The Virginia Foundation for the Humanities (VFH at www.virginiafoundation.org) seeks a Director of Development, Chief Advancement Officer to work collaboratively with the VFH President, the Board of Directors, and Program Staff.
The successful candidate will be creative and strategic, effectively expanding VFH's major gift program and leading the Development staff to ensure their success in prospect research, stewardship, annual fundraising, and other development activities. The Director reports to the VFH President.
Located in Charlottesville, Virginia, VFH has worked since 1974 to develop the civic, cultural, and intellectual life of the Commonwealth through research, education, and programming. VFH has a staff of more than thirty and an annual budget exceeding $5M and offers a competitive salary and benefits. VFH has recently engaged a consultant to manage a campaign specifically for Encyclopedia Virginia.

Required Qualifications
- Master's degree; however, a Bachelor's degree and significant professional related experience may be considered in lieu of Master's degree.
